Final Report

The international conference on 'Conserving Our Coastal Environment' was held in Tokyo on the 8-10 July, 2002. The aim of this conference was to highlight crucial aspects of coastal conservation, rehabilitation and resource management. Together with a network of scientists, policy-makers and researchers, UNU has been active in promoting research and capacity development in this field since 1988. Many of our partners from around the world discussed a set of key themes in coastal conservation during three day-long symposia at the conference. Short statements summarize the findings of each day of presentations and exchanges on the following themes:

-Endocrine Disruptor Pollution in Asia and the Pacific

-Coastal Management and Sustainable Development

-Marine Ecology and Environment
