4. Sampling plan
Surface water samples: We plan to collect from 19 locations (see figure)
along the Singapore coastline from October 2002 and January 2003.
Sampling locations are associated with possible inland POP sources
such as primary industrial areas, jetties and shipyard ports, and
marinas. Locations selected for sampling have hinterlands that have
agricultural activities (Johor Straits (Malaysian side) of the northeastern
and northwestern coast of Singapore), water sports recreational activities
(central and eastern Singapore Straits), and industrial activities
(western sites of the Straits). Location gradients and classifications
are given in the Table (see Appendix.).
We shall be collecting sediment as long as it is possible to do so
(near beach locations for example).
