Workshop Concept:
During this regional workshop on environmental monitoring and governance
in the East Asian coastal hydrosphere, hands-on training and substantive
discussions will focus on building capacity for the monitoring of POPs in
the East Asian coastal hydrosphere. Workshop participants will be selected
from the region, including the UNU network.
Aims:
1. A plan of action for the development and dissemination of environmental
quality standards and information on the threats from POPs pollution in
the coastal areas this region.
2. A research plan for an inter-laboratory calibration of methods in sample
collection and analysis
3. A scoping exercise for the development of environmental quality standards
and a potential regional early-warning system
4. Training for laboratory staff-members in analytical techniques
